Sherlock Holmes

After finally catching serial killer and occult “sorcerer” Lord Blackwood, legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson can close another successful case. But when Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, Holmes must take up the hunt once again. Contending with his partner’s new fiancée and the dimwitted head of Scotland Yard, the dauntless detective must unravel the clues that will lead him into a twisted web of murder, deceit, and black magic - and the deadly embrace of temptress Irene Adler

It’s a British film with an American star, and by heck is it good. For the first time Guy Ritchie has put together a film that does not have the made on a drunk set with wise cracks every two minutes, but a motion picture stolen from Hollywood.

What I liked was the explanation of what was going to happen and then the clinical delivery for the simple minute to minute action, but there is an underlying stream of what the hell is going on about it. Dark, like the ripper film From Hell, this is an explosive journey from one of the worlds best detectives.

Not since Snatch and, if I’m true to myself first seeing Lock Stock, has Guy Ritchie made a movie of this quality.  It’s like he doesn’t have a distraction in his life at the moment.
