Sex Drive

Eighteen year old loveable underdog Ian (Zuckerman) is the last American Virgin - or that’s how it feels to him! He’s always the best friend, but never the boyfriend! However, when he takes matters into his own hands he meets Ms Tasty (Bowden) over the internet and she offers to go all the way with him if he goes all the way in his brother’s (Marsden) prized possession Judge to her!

Ian and Lance, his ‘sex geek god’ of a mate (Duke) with surprise passenger, BFF Felicia (Crew) take the journey from Chicago to Knoxville in the stolen GTO with a few unexpected and hilarious pit stops along the way!

Car trouble, an encounter with the Amish, the discovery of peppermint fatties, to brushes with the law, a disgruntled husband and one angry brother in hot pursuit - will the guys survive all the unforeseen twists and turns of the bumpy road to adulthood?!

 

When I first opened up the DVD for Sex Drive I assumed it was just going to be another run of the mill teenage sex comedy, however I am pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised by this little movie.  Its a little predictable but who cares?  Yes the main guy is trying to lose his virginity and yes there are the standard gross out and embarrassing moments, yes there are quite a few teenage boobs, and yes the humor isn’t the most sophisticated but there’s just something about this film that puts it above other teenage comedies that are being churned out at the moment (when will the endless onslaught of official American Pie spin offs end?!?!?!).

The main things that lift this above the norm are the hilarious performances from James Marsden (Cyclops) as the meat head older brother, and the excellent Clarke Duke (which reminds me, if you haven’t seen Clarke and Michael yet, stop what you’re doing and head over to http://www.clarkandmichael.com immediately and watch them all).  Seth Green puts in a nice little cameo too.

If you’re looking for a movie where you can switch your brain off, see some boobies and laugh at a man in a donut outfit with a dildo attached to it then Sex Drive is perfect.
