Michael Douglas – We salute you!

His father was a movie star, he is a movie legend. Michael Douglas has lived with the fact that film reels runs through his blood and he has captured audience attention over the decades just as his father did before him. Marrying one of the true Darling Buds of May, Catherine Zeta Jones put the fairy tail icing on the cake, after all his father in law is younger then him. This week the sad news came out that Mr. Douglas has a very serious cancer in his throat, with this we look at what the great man has given to us over the years, Get well soon Michael Douglas.

10. Dont say a word.

I have to start with this for the simple reason I hated it. The film is great and he is awesome in the film but there is a scene that will ruin the film but if you have seen it, Mr. Bean would have won. Also staring the late Brittany Murphy this film will stick with you for a while.

9. You Me and Dupree

playing the father in law in this film was not his biggest part but surely one of his most fun ones. Worth a watch just because it is a really great film.

8. The Sentinel

Douglas teams up with 24 star Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) to be a body guard to one of the most important men in the world, but somehow it all goes wrong. A great suspense thriller.

7. Romancing the Stone

when a romance writer is kidnapped her sister goes after her to pay the ransom she finds herself in an adventure and treasure hunt which will lead to fun, danger and maybe a hint of love. Danny Devito also stars in this truly 80’s Saturday afternoon flick.

6. Fatal Attraction

when on a business trip a man meets a girl in the bar, takes her back for a one night stand. Then all of a sudden he find out the bird is totally mental, stalks the hell out of him and ruins his life, a woman’s scorn and all that! Welcome to the world of the bunny boiler mate, enjoy the film but leave with the correct partner.

5.Disclosure

One of many sexual orientated films disclosure is an adaptation of Michael Crichton novel. A computer specialist is sued for sexual harassment by a former lover turned boss who initiated the act forcefully, which threatens both his career and his personal life

4. Traffic

Although not really sharing any screen time this film with his wife set the Oscars alight at the turn of the century. Steven Soderbergh directed Douglas as a DEA in a twisting and intriguing look at the North American drug trade.

3.Basic Instinct

every young man of my age has heard of this film. Now Mike is in it a lot but it is more about the female lead, and the fact most of the picture she is nude. Great film, with a touch of art imitating life, but we wont go in to that in this tribute. It also contains cinema history but see if you can spot that when the moment happens.

2. Falling Down

when you having a bad day, and you think this person is pissing me off. Today I was stuck behind this guy driving really slowly, and it made me mad. However I didn’t snap, what if I did? Would I go on a rampage? This guy did!

1. Wall Street

Annoyingly this film took 23 years to get a sequel. The original boosts the father and son act of Charlie and Martin Sheen, but it is Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko that everyone remembers. His finest moment and a great film, although these lists are never a real countdown, if you want to see why this article exists it is simple because of Wall Street. I am sure it inspired almost every stock trader since the late 80’s ! it also won him his only Oscar for acting after his win for Best Picture for One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
