Lesbian Vampire Killers

This British horror-comedy stars Jimmy and Fletch, two buddies who wind up the unlikely saviours of their sleepy welsh village when it is discovered that an ancient Sapphic vampire curse has turned many of the local women into blood-thirsty vampires!

It has to be said that Gavin and Stacey has been not only one of the biggest BBC comedies, it is genuinely funny. It has all the elements a comedy needs, and it has a handsome man for the ladies, a stunning blonde with a cute accent for the men, and a funny tubby bloke to add the humor.

Then the stars of this show got a bit too much hype. Gavin and Stacey was great, but they had a TV sketch show and then this movie. Then they appeared on every chat show, awards show, radio show, commercial, poster comic relief and it was just too much. It annoyed me how much publicity they were getting and quite frankly no longer wanted to look at there faces incase they became the next Eamon Holmes.

So I waited a while before seeing Lesbian Vampire Killers. I had a good break from them, and although they are almost Gavin and Smithy. The film is cool, with it’s cartoon style switches between locations being scribbled on the screen.

The plot is lose but explained in detail so that any one can watch it without asking any questions. Realistic you could sit with your Gran who normally has to ask everything which is going on undisturbed, but then the subject matter may not be the best.

At 1 hour 20 minutes it also is a breath of fresh air. At the moment you have to have a film that is two hours long or it just does not get the time of day, this meaning that films that are silly like this have a 20 minute section which just loses your interest and bores you, however LVK scrapped this (probably for time restraints in filming).

All in all a funny film which is portrayed by what will soon be characters as familiar as Rodney and Del, David Brent and Gareth Keenan and Faulty and Manuel.
