Latest News and Exclusive On Set Photos of Faintheart
Here at Film Chair, we’ve been watching the progress of Faintheart quite closely. Firstly because its quite unique in the way that it is being produced but mainly because last year we spent two extremely cold days on set being extras and we were hoping to be rewarded by seeing our ugly mugs on the big screen sometime soon. Well it looks like our wait is almost at an end according to The Hollywood Reporter. They say the following about this British Film; “MySpace, Vertigo Films, the U.K. Film Council and Film4 have teamed up for a newfangled dual Web-theatrical showing of “Faintheart,” a romantic comedy about people who re-enact Viking battles. On Jan. 27, the Vito Rocco-directed film will be released simultaneously free of charge for one day in cinemas and online. It will be available for sale on DVD on Feb. 2.”
“At the core of the plan, MySpace, together with developer Third Eye Labs, has created the U.K.’s first theatrical Web screening, which will allow MySpace fans to decide in which towns the film is shown.”
Well this all sounds good until you consider that it was actually due for a theatrical release back in September but then was pulled at the last minute and was pencilled in for a theatrical release again on 14th February. I’m afraid to say it but to me it sounds like they’ve got a bit of a duff film on their hands and they’re trying to put a spin on the decision someone has made to send it straight to DVD.
The film is a collaboration between Vertigo Films, the U.K Film Council, Film 4 and Myspace. They held a competition which was won by Vitto Rocco which gave him £1m to make a movie with the aid of Myspace users who got to have some input on a couple of scenes and some of the casting. It is claiming to be the first ‘user generated’ film.
So we’ll be reviewing the film in the next month or so, in the meanwhile here are some on set pictures we took whilst being extras, these are exclusive to Film Chair.
