Juno
Juno, a witty teenage girl whose boredom doesn’t lead her to the mall. Instead, she makes a one-time trip into the arms of her best friend Paulie Bleeker. When Juno discovers that she’s pregnant, she’s forced to grow up fast as she tries to find adoptive parents for her quickly growing child.
Winning many accolades and awards, Juno is a humorous and fairly light hearted look at the seriousness of teenage pregnancy, something which is slowly become more and more common. Knowing she will not be able to bring the baby up by herself is something she knows will lead to giving it away, and she accepts this early on.
Being pointed at and teased in school is common place as Juno was not in the ‘it crowd’, but this is made severely worse by the massive bump under her jumper. The best friend she did the deed with moves on, not needing to grow up as it will be given away and nothing to do with him.
This happens every day, but I am sure no one else will take it on the chin quite like Juno. With the sound track rivalling an iPod advert it can become a little annoying if your not into it, but it complements the film and Juno’s quirkiness.
