Eagle Eye

Shia Labeouf reteams with “Disturbia” director D.J. Caruso playing a young slacker whose twin brother has died mysteriously. Rachel finds that her child is missing, and soon the two strangers realize that they have been framed as terrorists.

Forced to become members of a cell that has plans to carry out a political assassination, they must work together to extricate themselves while being led by a mysterious voice.

For the first time I get all the fuss about Shia Labeouf, he can pull it off. I did not like him in Transformers and I try every day to forget the disappointment of Indiana Jones, but in Eagle Eye he finally manages to succeed at his trade.

Although at times slightly unbelievable, it opens up a world of questions on how much do we know about our  government tracking each of us? Electronic devices control our lives these days, you forget your phone you feel out of your comfort zone, this film turns that against you and installs a curious fear.

Eagle Eye is a big budget, fast paced action movie that does keep you on the edge of your seat but unfortunately it’s not quite as clever as it thinks it is.  I’m not quite sure if it’s meant to have a ‘twist’ but if it does you see if coming a mile off.

To conclude before the spoiler this film will never make a top 100 list or films to see before you die, but is well worth a watch.

!SPOILER ALERT!

Hollywood is running out of stories to tell. This film has a plot which is ends up extremely like that of a book which has already been made into a motion picture. Although it is set much in the future if you are more into CGI than gritty punch ups you, cool mock ups of cars compared to good old American 4×4’s then watch I-Robot. But out of the two films Eagle Eye draws you in and entertains a lot more.
