Couples Retreat
A comedy centered around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. Whilst one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort’s therapy sessions is not optional.
A good film, not a great film. Vince Vaughan has more in common with Danny Dyer then either of them would really like to admit. Being type cast is a terrible thing and I am afraid that these days we only see the giant wise cracking man playing the same person opposite a different actor playing his wife. This leads to why I maybe missed the bus on being excited about this film.
The rest, well it is watchable, but just not laugh out loud funny. There is nothing that really strikes you as being hilarious. I have to admit that I am not in a relationship so maybe this led to not relating to what is going on but I doubt it. Possibly when it is released on DVD it will be an un-rated, unedited full blown edition but I don’t think even that would rescue this.
I wrote this the day after seeing this picture but then took a while to let it sink in a little more. Make sure that I had written the correct side of the argument of how bad it is. A week on I remember it had Favreau and Vaughan in it…. yep that’s about it.
