Cass

The incredible true story of how an orphaned Jamaican baby, adopted by an elderly white couple and brought up in an all white area of London, became one of the most feared and respected men in Britain.

CASS grew up in a time before political correctness and was forced to endure racist bullying on a daily basis, until one day when the years of pent up anger came out in a violent burst. CASS found through violence the respect he never had and became addicted to the buzz of fighting. His way of life finally caught up with him when an attempted assassination on his life, saw him shot three times at point blank range. His inner strength somehow managed to keep him alive but he was left with a dilemma; whether to seek vengeance as the street had taught him, or renounce his violent past. This is the extraordinary story of his life.

The first thing to notice about Cass is just the size of this fella, if it is a true representation he would give Hagrid from Harry Potter a shadow to hide in. If I walked into a club he was working in, or he looked at me at football I would beat myself up.

The story is not just about a lad who gets involved with the wrong crowd at a football match, his first thought was to run away when he stumbled upon a fight at Molinuex. However he met the notorious West Ham thugs and decided to get involved and he loved it. This bred one of the hardest football thugs of a generation, in the army he would have been promoted, in the real world he was a villain.

Life was not all about football violence for Cass Penants, real name Carol.  Growing up in tough times in an  area that wasn’t that accepting, he has to battle racism his whole life from both whites and blacks.

Unlike most football hooligan films this won’t make you want to watch out next time you go down your local club for a game. It has violence, but it is used well that it does not overpower the picture, and it even has some laughs.  A nice addition to the genre.
